After I left Arkansas I headed back to the Dallas area to spend a week visiting my son and cousins. I stayed at Hickory Creek, another COE campground on Lewisville Lake. I have to say, I LOVE this campground! It's located close to town but I was right on the lake and was able to launch my kayak from my campsite.

Beautiful lake front campsite

Lesson learned - don't forget the tension rods in your refrigerator to keep things from falling out! Yeah, that was fun to clean up.

Gable really wanted to chase that deer!

The kitties both needed their shots and annual check up and Gable was scheduled to have his teeth cleaned. A few weeks before, I noticed he wasn't eating his dry food. His teeth have been bad since I adopted him so I figured they were hurting and switched him to canned food. He wasn't eating much of it either. Come to find out he had infected gums and ended

up having 17 teeth removed! Good thing I know an awesome vet tech (my son Skyler for those of you who don't know). Gable seemed to feel much better afterwards.
Of course my wallet was feeling a lot of pain when I got the bill. Here I am "wining" about it 😂
I got to hang out with my cousin Rhonda and her husband John at their boat. We were going to take it out but the wind picked up and the temps dropped so we just hung out at the marina instead. We had a flock of female duck visit us.
They took me to Hard Eight for dinner. You pick what meat you want and how much of it and it's sold by the weight. I had the ribs and they were yummy!

I spent a little time on the water. It was great to get out there again.

Egret and mallard ducks were always hanging around

Interesting erosion patterns in the sandstone. It almost looks like wood grain.

The biggest vulture I've ever seen. This thing was huge!

Have you ever seen a sky blue dragonfly? It was a first for me.

I spent a little time relaxing in the hammock also. Retired life is tough!

I spent as much time as time with Skyler as I could. He works 6 days a week so I treasure the time we have together.
I had my fist mouse invasion! The cats kept camping out at the vent under the refrigerator, staring into it. I never heard any scratching or noise so I thought it was just a bug. I went out for awhile and when I came home I had a dead mouse waiting on me. Go kitties! Good job! I haven't seen one since but I did take the vent off and stuff steel wool in all the holes. I took a picture of the mouse but it's pretty gory so I'll spare y'all the details. I'm nice like that!
Next, I head back to the San Antonio area. See you soon!
Oops I misspelled my email!
